- Ilcho Damyanov, President Georgi Purvanov's adviser on domestic affairs, was suspected of ties with the Galevi brothers, who became the target of public spotlight earlier this year when it became clear that they were under police investigation, Dnevnik daily said. Roumen Petkov's meeting with the two businessmen was one of the main reasons that led to the resignation of interior ministry Roumen Petkov.

- Sarkozy managed to pick up a fight with the European Commission on the first day of the French presidency of the European Union, saying that he would refuse to give the go-ahead for the EU's planned deal with the World Trade Organisation because it would hurt European farmers, Dnevnik daily reported.

Social

- The Small Season festival at the Sfumato Theatre-Laboratory has started, Dnevnik daily reported.

- Because of the license row, CSKA is parting ways with its entire team, Dnevnik daily said. Due to the famous Bulgarian football club being pulled out of the European football competitions, its management keeps on selling players, the daily reported.

Economy

- The labour crisis was being felt in the agriculture sector as well, Dnevnik daily said, reporting that businesses have asked the Interior Ministry to ease the access of workers from countries outside the European Union to the Bulgarian labour market.

- The prosecutor's office started an investigation into the contract between the state administration and Microsoft for software delivery, Dnevnik daily reported.
