Politics

- The Defence Ministry had rented out without a tender its rest station in the Black Sea coastal resort of Kiten for 41 000 euro per year, Dnevnik said. The tenant will use the base for eight years.

- Accreditation of the two agencies responsible for European Union funds utilisation, withdrawn by the European Commission in July, should be recovered by November 22, Dnevnik said. Otherwise, Bulgaria would lose the opportunity to sign and fund contracts under the EU Phare programme.

Social

- A second round of electricity bills, issued by electricity-distributing company CEZ, based on forecast consumption, again caused chaos among the company’s clients, Sega daily said. Queues of dissatisfied clients appeared in front of CEZ offices, demanding corrections to their bills.

Economy

- Revenue from tourism in the period up to June 2008 amounted to 601 million euro, a year on year increase of 12 per cent, Monitor daily said. More than two million people visited Bulgaria during the period in question.
