- France and Germany, supported by Greece and some other Western European countries turned the Nato summit in Bucharest from a great break-through into a great disappointment and helped Russia to regain its position in the European security policy, Dnevnik daily said.
- Parliament's internal security and public order committee was preparing a critical report on the activity of Interior Minister Roumen Petkov, which it would present on April 8, Dnevnik said.
Social
- Supreme Judicial Council sacked the judge who in November last year ran down a person with her car in the town of Pernik and was found to have been driving under the influence of alcohol, Sega daily reported.
Economic
- State Tourism Agency plans to file amendments to the country's law on tourism, which would require Bulgarian tour operators to periodically re-register and would also re-evaluate the star ranking of Bulgarian hotels at regular intervals, Dnevnik reported.
- Banks in Emerging Europe are unlikely to meet the same fate as Bear Stearns in the US or Northern Rock in Britain. Despite rising risks, banks in Eastern Europe were unlikely to be affected by the global credit crunch, except in the short term, the daily said, quoting a study of British analysts Capital Economics.
