The pre-election campaign for the municipal elections on October 28 2007 was launched on September 27 2007.
The campaign would end at 00am on October 26 2007, Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) reported.
A total of 88 parties and coalitions registered with the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) for participation in the elections.
For the first time the electors would have to cast a ballot not only for mayors and municipal councillors, but also for mayors of the big regions in the district centres.
The ballots would be similar for all the nominations, BNR said.
According to Bulgarian legislation, campaign materials could be placed only at certain places. Damaging campaign materials is forbidden.
From September 27 2007, television and radio channels area allowed to start pre-election shows.
