POSSIBLE REPLAY UEFA CUP MATCH FOR BULGARIA’S LITEX
14:15 Wed 19 Sep 2007

The match between Bulgaria's Litex and Germany's Hamburger SV for the first round of the EUFA Cup might have to be replayed.
Hamburger SV won the match, which was played September 18 2007, with 0-1.

The match might have to be replayed because of a decision by referee Tony Asumaa. Asumaa gave the impression he gave a second yellow card to Hamburger SV's Paolo Guerrero, but did not give a red card, Focus news agency said.

UEFA has demanded a special report and if a mistake by Asumaa would be found, the match could be re-played.

According to Focus, Asumaa tried to cover up his mistake by explaining in his report that the card was for a Bulgarian player.

Litex management was considering submitting an appeal before the UEFA, demanding a re-play.

There has been a similar case several years ago when a match between Austria’s Rapid Wien and Russian Lokomotiv Moscow in the UEFA Champions League qualifications was replayed because of two yellow cards without a red card.
