Days after the murder of businessman and Lokomotiv Plovdiv football club president Alexander Tasev, politicians started ‘remembering’ talks they previously had with him.
Representatives of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), National Movement Simeon II (NMSII) and Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) said that they knew Tasev in connection to his business activities, Dnevnik daily reported.
Tasev was shot dead in his car in Sofia’s residential district of Boyana. Investigation is ongoing.
NMSII representative Nikolai Svinarov said that Tasev worked with the party for its electoral campaign in Kiustendil in 2005.
According to other NMSII members, Tasev was involved in vote buying. He worked both for NMSII and BSP, former NMSII member Emil Koshloukov said.
A pass for the National Assembly parking was found in Tasev’s car after the murder. The document carries the name of MP Trifon Mitev. Mitev said that he was aware somebody was using the pass but did not know the exact owner.
Earlier, Interior Minister Roumen Petkov said that Tasev was previously investigated for fuel smuggling in Serbia in the 90s. Investigation stopped in 2001.
