Police in Plovdiv arrested 11 people, members of a heroin distribution group operating within the city.
Representatives of the group were in charge of 50 to 60 per cent of Plovdiv’s drug market, officer Ivan Vulchev told a press conference on May 29.
Interior Ministry said that the operation in Plovdiv is the third successful intervention, targeting high-level drug schemes in the city.
Policemen followed the work of the group since the beginning of the year. A witness under protection already described the proceedings of the group.
Heroin was smuggled from Turkey and the group used various suppliers. The narcotic substance was sold to dealers, who were part of the group’s distribution network.
The 11 group members were detained over the past month during four police operations. Five of them already served prison sentences on previous charges of drug possession.
