Cabinet changes were a major challenge, President Georgi Purvanov said, but Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev did a good job.
On June 2 Stanishev accepted the resignations of Economy Minister Roumen Ovcharov and Justice Minister Georgi Petkanov.
Stanishev showed will and determination and considered the impact of these decisions, Purvanov said. He managed to demonstrate that Bulgaria has a strong Prime Minister.
Structural changes in Cabinet were going to increase its efficiency, Purvanov said. Yet, society should not expect constant changes and drama in the executive authority.
At the same time rightist party Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) called for the dismissal of the entire Cabinet and the scheduling of preliminary elections.
Ruling parties in Bulgaria were approaching a crisis and obviously business interests were involved in the Cabinet policies, UDF Sofia said.
