It is very important for people to understand well the work that the European Parliament (EP) does, chairman of the European People’s Party (EPP) Joseph Daul said.
If people understood the importance of the issue, they were going to take seriously Bulgaria’s upcoming members of European Parliament (MEP) elections and were going to vote, Daul told journalists in Strasbourg.
Bulgaria is already part of the EU and Bulgarians are EU who should make their voice heard, Daul said.
EU accession already produced results, Daul said. The country dealt with issues that were previously problematic, like corruption.
Vice president of the Party of European Socialists (PES) Jan Wiersma said that after Bulgaria’s EU accession the country showed decisive will to carry out reforms. Bulgaria plays important role in Southeastern Europe, which will continue growing, he said.
It is most important to select MEPs that will work for democratic Europe, Wiersma said.
