Members of Parliament accepted the final amendments to the Penal Code on August 30.
The changes improved the efficiency of measures against tax fraud, Focus news agency reported.
Head of the responsible parliamentary committee Yanaki Stoilov said that the amendments would also improve intellectual property right protection in Bulgaria.
Everyone using somebody else’s intellectual property for commercial uses would be sanctioned, Focus reported. The changes permit the usage of information found online for personal aims only.
Stoilov said that the new texts also offered better protection to child victims of sexual abuse. Sexual harassment at the workplace would also be punished, said he.
One of the most important changes would limit the instances in which a punishment would be substituted for a fine, Stoilov said.
