Dobrich Administrative Court scheduled for November 12 2007 its first hearing in an appeal against the results of the municipal elections, held on October 28 2007.
Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), ultra-nationalist movement Ataka, Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) and local rightists parties coalition appealed the results, Bulgarian news agency BTA said.
The Municipal election commission was defendant in the trial. The commission overruled the appeal of the parties against the results and their demand for ballots to be counted by hand.
According to the plaintiffs, the list of electors for the municipal election consisted of 96 787 names, while the list for the election of municipal councillors had 91 787 names. It was unclear why there was such a difference, because the lists should be the same, they said.
In the lists, the number of the electors, who voted for mayor, was different from the number of the municipal councillors electors, which was impossible as each voter signs only once after casting the ballots.
The Administrative Court will have to find out whether there are other inaccuracies in the election documentation.
Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) nominee Detelina Nikolova won the Dobrich mayor post in the first round of the municipal elections with 64.82 per cent of the voters.
