Parliament approved on first reading the convention for the construction of the Bourgas- Vlora oil pipeline.

The energy network will pass through Bulgaria, Macedonia and Albania.

Bourgas-Vlora is one of the priority energy projects for Bulgaria. Execution of the project is also of regional importance and will increase Bulgaria’s role in the Balkan region.

The pipeline will be 870km long and investment in is expected to reach 1.2 billion euro.

Annual oil transit will reach 35 million tons.

Bulgaria, Macedonia and Albania signed the Bourgas- Vlora convention on January 31 2007.
