The Council on Electronic Media held a public discussion on Wednesday of the Raw Power and Smackdown programmes broadcast by bTV.
The discussion was initiated by the Parents Association which says that the showing of wrestling programmes from 3pm to 5pm was a violation of the Law on Child Protection.
The parents said the programmes were inappropriate for minors because they provoked aggressive behaviour.
BTV’s executive director Svetlana Vassileva said that the shows were not targeted at children but were mostly watched by people aged between 25-54. She said that if it was proved that the programmes had a negative influence on children, bTV would take this into consideration.
