The union of owners at the Bulgarian Black Sea resort Sunny Beach is insisting that the strict control of access to the complex should remain in place.
They were reacting to a letter from Bulgarian ombudsman Ginyo Ganev to the Prosecutor-General and to the Economy and Energy Minister demanding that control of access to the resort should be abolished, Focus news agency reported.
Hotel managers say that the existing barriers should be removed but police should control checkpoints to monitor who enters and leaves the resort.
The system of admission to Sunny Beach was introduced on June 1 2007 and was intended to stay in place until September 9. Anyone who wants to enter the resort has to submit a paid card depending on the type of car.
The reasons for introducing the access control system were the large number of cars parking in the resort, and traffic jams. Owners in Sunny Beach are to insist on stricter steps being taken against motorists who park where they should not.
