The ruling Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) is the political formation that received most funding in 2006, data of the National Audit Office (NAO) shows.
BSP got donations exceeding 1.28 million leva in 2006, Novinar newspaper reported.
The party’s assets declaration names all of its sponsors and spreads over 74 pages.
Rightist opposition formation Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) turns out to be the second richest party. Funding it received totals 437 139 leva.
Major companies provided most of the funds for the UDF. Individuals donated less.
Ultra-nationalist movement Ataka got 5913 leva from private sponsors. The television channel connected to the formation, SKAT, received separately 25 000 leva.
BSP’s coalition partner National Movement Simeon II (NMSII) received 200 700 leva. The second coalition partner, Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) failed submitting its financial report for 2006.
