Sofia City Court decided that Nestor Nestorov should remain in prison on charges of participation in organised crime group, dealing with tax fraud and document-related crime.
Two of Nestorov’s accomplices, Boris Balabanov and Liubomir Kotsev would be released on a 2000-leva bail, Focus news agency reported.
Court ruled out that Nestorov could try influencing the court and should remain in prison. Nestorov had good relations with representatives of the road police and with other administrators related to the trial, Focus reported.
The organised group dealt mainly with car registration. Luxurious vehicles were brought to Bulgaria, avoiding customs duties and thus diverting state funds.
Prosecution requested closed court sessions due to some classified information that needed to be examined. Defence accepted the request.
Nestorov is the son of the director of Sofia road police Ilia Iliev. Iliev was temporarily dismissed from his position, Focus news agency reported.
