The Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) will work for a non-confidence motion because of corruption scandals that gained publicity lately.
Something unprecedented is happening in Bulgaria, UDF representative Ivan Sotirov said. Representatives of state institutions are directly accused of crime, which should lead to some resignations, he said.
Sotirov referred to claims of Bulgartabac Holding executive manager Hristo Lachev who said that National Investigative Service director Angel Alexandrov asked him for a bribe. The name of Economy and Energy Minister Roumen Ovcharov was also mentioned in the controversy.
Ovcharov, as well as Alexandrov should leave their positions, UDF said. It was beyond understanding why the Prime Minister and President keep quiet about the issue, Sotirov said as quoted by Focus news agency.
The processes taking place in Bulgaria call for urgent measures, opposition representatives said. UDF will ask all parties in opposition for co-operation.
