OPPOSITION IN BULGARIA TABLES MOTION OF NO-CONFIDENCE
13:31 Mon 15 Oct 2007

On October 15 2007, opposition parties tabled a motion of no confidence against the Cabinet because of the crisis in the education.

The parties in opposition managed to collect the signatures needed for a motion of no confidence as early as the last week, but decided to give a 48-hour ultimatum to the ruling coalition to resolve the problem, Focus news agency reported.

A total of 64 Members of Parliament from all opposition parties signed the motion.

According to local legislation, after the motion is tabled, seven days would have to pass before the motion would be discussed in Parliament.

It is the third no-confidence motion tabled against the current Cabinet. The first two were because of its handling of natural calamities and the healthcare system crisis.
