President Georgi Purvanov said that parties presenting inaccurate information on former State Security archives needed to apologise to everyone affected by such claims.
Recently Purvanov said the archives contained a file about him under the name 'agent Gotse' but the information failed to prove any connection to the former State Security intelligence service.
Kostov on the other hand said he had information in the 80s, proving that Purvanov co-operated with the State Security. This information was concealed at the time, Kostov said.
Purvanov said opposition parties in Bulgaria spread 'dangerous lies' concerning diplomats and current public figures. Some claims were ridiculous and not based on any factual information, Purvanov said.
The upcoming presidential elections should be a clash of policies, not of machinations and discrediting, Purvanov said.
Purvanov discussed the classified information issue during the opening of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria conference on US Joint Training Facilities: Commercial Opportunities and Business Partnership.
