OPPOSITION IN BULGARIA EXPECTS NO-CONFIDENCE VOTE SUPPORT FROM RULING MAJORITY
14:50 Tue 27 Feb 2007

Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) hoped that more MPs, including representatives of ruling parties will support the no-confidence motion against the Cabinet, UDF leader Petar Stoyanov said.

UDF MP Dimitatr Iordanov said that the opposition hoped to receive support from National Movement Simeon II (NMSII), one of the three parties in the ruling coalition.

Members of opposition parties Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB), UDF, Bulgaria People’s Union (BPU) and ultra-nationalist movement Ataka tabled the motion on February 22 2007, accusing the ruling coalition of the healthcare crisis and other policy failures.

Stoyanov said that the no-confidence motion was great responsibility, instead of just teasing the Cabinet.

He denied claims that joint no-confidence motion actions of rightist parties were expression of common political strategy, Focus news agency said.

Rightist parties were forced to synchronise their actions and would do it every time it was necessary, Stoyanov said.
