
In February 2008, the National Opera and Ballet in Sofia will launch a musical educational programme entitled Opera for Children.
Between February 6 and 9, the opera will present a version of The Magic Flute by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart adapted for children, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported.
Sergei Prokofiev’s symphonic fairytale Peter and the Wolf will be staged between February 13 and 16.
The third work in the programme is the children’s fairytale opera Hansel and Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck, on from February 20 to February 23.
Yuliya Krusteva directs all three performances.
Opera for Children was the idea of National Opera and Ballet director Plamen Kartalov, BTA said. The children will be taken backstage to meet the artists and musicians.
Tickets are five leva for adults and three leva for children.
