Open-water swimming champion finishes second in Argentina

The holder of the world cup in the 2001 open water swimming marathon, Petar Stoychev, finished second on Saturday in the second Maraton de Maestros, the championship which attracted the world’s eight best long-distance swimmers. Over the 25km distance in the waters of the Parana River, near the Argentinian town Santa Fe, Stoychev was outstripped by 10 seconds by the 25km swim world champion Yurii Kudinov from Russia. Third was the Frenchman Stephane Lecat who is another of the Bulgarian’s rivals for the world cup.
