The government would provide nearly one million leva to encourage the introduction of energy saving technology in small and medium-sized companies.

Through the investment Bulgaria plans to increase economic competitiveness by providing investment stimuli and through increasing energy efficiency, Focus news agency reported.

Funds for the project would be allocated from Budget 2006. The Economy and Energy Ministry would be responsible for fund distribution.

Financial resources would be distributed to the companies that submitted applications first and that have signed agreements for the evaluation of energy efficiency practices, Focus reported.
