One Bulgarian was shot dead and four other were wounded in a shooting in the Italian town of Mondragone on September 17, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported.
The men were shot in the same day that Bulgarian police cracked a cocaine smuggling ring.
The Bulgarians were involved in a cocaine traffic channel between Bulgaria and Italy, Darik Radio said. The cocaine traffic through Bulgaria was controlled by people related to the Italian mafia, according to Darik.
The man shot dead was 18-year-old, Focus news agency said.
Only one of the other Bulgarians shot was in critical condition, Focus said.
Witnesses said that two men entered the villa where the Bulgarians stayed and began shooting, Focus said.
Bulgarian Foreign Ministry still lacked official information on the case, Focus said.
