Bulgaria needs sufficient financial resources for the carrying out of the Defence Ministry's priorities, Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev said.
Stanishev took part in the international conference Offset in Bulgaria, Problems and Perspectives, Bulgarian National Radio reported. The forum has been organised by The Atlantic Club of Bulgaria, Economy and Energy Ministry and Defence Ministry.
Stanishev said that more than 2.6 per cent of GDP had to be provided annually for the modernisation of the Bulgarian army. New ways of attracting investments to Bulgaria had to be sought, including offset.
Stanishev said before the leading foreign military companies, which were present at the forum that Bulgaria had potential for partnership in the military industry.
The main aim of Bulgaria's government will be offset deals, which could guarantee the success of the country's partnership in this sphere.
Offset will improve the efficiency of investment in the sector of security and national defence through transfer of technologies and access to new markets, chairman and CEO of the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria Lyubomir Ivanov said.
