St Sofia Golf Club and Spa hosted the finals of the 2007 Office Golf championship on September 21.
The winner was Ivan Tanev of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange, with Danail Kamburov of Fame Cards in second place and Kamen Nedialkov of Pernod Ricard third.
The final involved the winners and second-place finishers from all of the offices that had taken part in the Office Golf Championships during the course of the year. The tournament was held on a specially laid-out six-hole “course” on St. Sofia’s practice putting green and presented the competitors with the challenge of real golf.
Players were keenly cheered on by their colleagues and friends from the various companies. The group from Fame Cards had special shirts made to show their team spirit.
Neil Turley, Director of Golf at St Sofia, opened the tournament by giving participants a run-down of the rules and some quick putting tips.
Elena Ilieva of sponsors Chivas Regal presented the prizes and trophies. The tournament drew an even larger number of contestants than the previous year and along with golf in general in Bulgaria, appears to be gaining in popularity.
