The EU accession of Bulgaria and Romania is expected to result in a tourism and travel boom, Financial Times Deutschland reported.
To meet the higher demand, low cost air carriers are to increase the number of flights they offer to the two countries in the near future.
On January 15 WizzAir low cost carrier will launch its first direct flight from Bucharest to London. The round trip costs nearly 150 euro, airport taxes included. Competition is expected to bring down prices further.
WizzAir, as well as SkyEurope already fly to Bucharest and Sofia. Their job became easier after the EU entry of the two countries, since aviation companies no longer need government permission to secure landing rights, the report said.
Both Bulgaria and Romania are expecting to see a significant tourism boom, just like the countries that joined the EU in 2004.
EU accession is also to aid the work of local tourism agencies, Financial Times Deutschland reported.
