After the Spanish media announced on October 8 that football club Celta had fired its manager Hristo Stoichkov, later that evening Stoichkov himself announced had was not fired but had instead resigned for personal reasons.
"Professionally as well as personally is it very difficult when your family can not be with you. My parents are not here, my wife and children are in Barcelona,"Stoichkov said as quoted by mediapool.bg.
Stoichkov said he had been waiting for a good moment to make his decision public and said he informed the club management of his decision after the 3-1 victory against Heres on October 6.
"This has been my own personal decision and you will not find anything else, because there is nothing else," Spanish media quoted him as saying.
Despite the victory against Heres, Celta still finds itself at the 11th place with only 10 points after three victories, three losses and one equal under Stoichkov's leadership.
