Bourgas regional prosecution filed a new indictment against the double world champion in figure skating Maxim Staviiski.
On August 5 2007, Staviiski caused a car accident near the coastal town of Primorsko, in which a 24-year-old man died and a 19-year-old girl was severely wounded. Blood tests showed 1.1 permilles alcohol in his blood.
After “a technical mistake” of the prosecution, the first indictment against Staviiksi was withdrawn, netinfo.bg said. The supervising prosecutor of the case was reprimanded.
Staviiski would be prosecuted for causing the death of one man, severe physical damage of another and traumas to two other people.
He can be sentenced to three to 10 years in jail, netinfo.bg said.
Staviiski said that whatever the sentence is, he would serve it.
