Bulgaria will introduce its renewed energy efficiency law that is in accordance with EU directives within a week, Energy Efficiency Agency (EEA) head Tasko Ermenkov said.
Scientists, energy experts and specialists took part in a forum on energy efficiency in Bulgaria as part of the uniform European energy strategy, Focus news agency reported.
The national trade organisation representing small and medium sized companies in the sphere of heating, air conditioning and gas supply organised the forum.
According to EEA data, Bulgaria will save by 2.2 million leva a year if it meets European energy saving requirements.
EU new directives on energy efficiency said that Bulgaria would have to save more than 7472 gigawatt-hours of electricity by 2016.
Energy saving was an important issue for Bulgaria because the country still used double the amount of energy than the average figures for the European Union (EU), head of organisation committee of International Congress on Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Sources Milko Kovachev recently said.
