On November 29, part of the NDSV municipal coordinators in the Bulgarian region of Montana accepted a declaration in which it rejected the ousting of Borislav Velikov from the party, Lom municipal NDSV coordinator Valeri Stoichkov said.
Over the past two days, 12 NDSV MPs left the party. Velikov was among four who were expelled from the party on November 27.
The coordinators said they were “confused and perplexed by the decision” to expel Montana MP Velikov from the party, and were "disappointed" that instead of dialogues about policies, there were internal intrigues in the party.
According to the declaration, the Montana organisation of NDSV reached its results in the municipal and European Parliamentary elections, thanks to Velikov.
Velikov was popular, because, unlike other MPs, he always travelled with his own car and gave from his salary to talented students and poor families, the declaration said.
The coordinators announced they would leave NDSV, if the “unfair decision” was not reversed.
Former NDSV MP Tatyana Kalkanova, who left the party voluntarily on November 28, said that she would join another parliamentary group, when she “felt closeness to its policy”. Meanwhile, she would remain an independent MP.
Despite her leaving the party, she would continue to consider NDSV a worthy cause, he said as quoted by the Bulgarian news agency BTA..
According to Kalkanova, problems inside NDSV began a long time ago, but came out during the party congress in June 2007.
Decisions taken during the congress were not yet registered by the court, because of accusations of fraud.
NDSV could not reach its goals with the current management style, Kalkanova said. There was no dialogue or joint decision making in the party.
