The Environment Ministry was doing its best to provide municipalities with information on the inclusion of territories in Natura 2000 network, Deputy Environment and Water Affairs Minister Chavdar Georgiev said.
Restrictive measures for each protected area would be presented after the Environment Minister issued a final order, said Georgiev.
The introduction of Natura 2000 was a long process, which could last years, said Georgiev as quoted by Focus news agency.
MPs and municipal officials from southwest Bulgarian towns said that the information on the introduction of the environmental network was insufficient. The criteria used to select territories were also unclear, they said.
Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) MP Eliana Maseva said that the interests of environmentalists and municipalities did not differ greatly. Misunderstandings resulted from the lack of information, said Maseva.
