NATO GRANTS BULGARIA 75 MILLION EURO FOR PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION

NATO will grant Bulgaria 75 million euro to be utilised for various NATO membership-related activities.

Fund provision has already received government approval, Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) reported.

NATO funds will be utilised for improvement of Bulgaria's defence capabilities and accomplishment of the country's NATO related engagements. Another part of the funds will be spent on Bulgarian army modernisation and reduction of technical restrictions concerning the participation of Bulgarian soldiers in NATO operations.

Projects on foreign security policy, including activities for co-operation in European and Euro-atlantic integration will also make use of NATO funds.

Among other priority activities to be funded by NATO feature various missions and operations of the organisation in Afghanistan and Iraq.
