Spanish police is working on the version that Bulgarians ordered the attempted murder of a man shot three times in the head in Madrid on November 12 2006.
The mas shot was Petar Mihailov, 39, known as Petyo Burziya (the Fast), Darik Radio said. He was one of the Bulgarian mafia bosses in Spain, the report said.
Mihailov was investigated for money laundering, credit card faking and theft of luxurious vehicles.
In Spain Mihailov changed his family name to Jorge Morientes, Darik said.
Mihailov was arrested in Spain in 2005 and accused of money laundering and trafficking of stolen cars.
According to Darik, Mihailov's gang was competing for superiority with another Bulgarian mafia gang in Spain.
