Consensus has been reached on the parametres of an agreement between Bulgaria and the US concerning facilitated visa regime.
An expert group from the Foreign and Interior ministries will travel to the US to work on the agreement.
Bulgarian ambassador to the US Elena Poptodorova said that talks were nearing their conclusion and the finalisation of the agreement depended on a political decision.
Currently the US is revising its visa policies and immigration laws. In case a decision is taken by the end of the year, Bulgarians can enjoy facilitated travel conditions within one year and a half, Poptodorova said.
During his recent visit to Bulgaria, US president George W. Bush said that the US was ready to introduce visa-free regime for Bulgarians.
Bush said that he will be personally committed and will work with congress on changing travel conditions.
