09:10 Thu 18 Oct 2007

State financial funding for Bulgaria’s sport will most probably be increased by more than three million leva in 2008, Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOC) said.

Thus the sports budget would reach 33 million leva, Focus news agency said.

State Agency for Youth and Sport head Vessela Lecheva said that part of the money, 900 000 leva, would be allocated for the participants in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Another 200 000 leva would be allocated for BOC, Focus said.

On October 17 2007, BOC discussed the funding and categorisation of the sports federation. The federations would be divided into several groups, based on medals won and event participation of their sportsmen.
