A miniature model of the Rila Monastery will be added to the collection of the Mini-Europe park in Brussels.
The park presents mini-models of tourist attractions from all EU member states.
Rila Monastery's model will be in 1:25 scale, constructed by the Bulgaria in Miniature studio. Mini-Europe director Thierry Meeùs and Sunny Sunninski from Bulgaria in Miniature signed the contract on October 31 2007.
The model will include all details of the monastery, including the inner buildings and frescoes. It would spread on 20 sq m and be one m high.
As Rila Monastery's architecture is of the closed type, a special platform would be constructed to allow the visitors see the model from a bird's eye view.
Meeùs said that he was happy such an attraction would be presented in the park. The Rila monastery was very impressing and few of the models in Mini-Europe had such an impact on the viewer. It would be the first model of an Orthodox building in the park, he said after the contract signing.
The model would be ready by the end of spring 2008 or the beginning of summer 2008.

In a blow against a problem that has been plaguing Bulgaria’s elections, State Agency for National Security and Interior Ministry say several people in a ‘major criminal organisation’ have been arrested for vote-buying, on the eve of the July 5 vote.
Barometer Info survey on July 3 2009, just ahead of the eve of Bulgaria’s national parliamentary elections, gives GERB 27.05 per cent and Sergei Stanishev’s Coalition for Bulgaria 19.09 per cent.
The exact number of people sacked from duty out of the 600 who refused to go to work on Monday is undisclosed, although reports claim that as of June 3 at least four people were told they were surplus to requirements.
