MobiTel's new owner, Lev Leviev, announced this week his plans to invest $200 million in the mobile company. LL Telecommunication Holding, a company 50 per cent owned by Leviev, recently acquired MobilTel, Bulgaria's first GSM operator.

Leviev is presently in talks to extend the company's cellular licence to 2001, and increase its bandwidth - moves which could cost $100 million.

The Israeli businessman has also expressed interest in the privatisation of 12 hotels from the Slanchev Briag resort.
