12:44 Tue 16 Oct 2007

MKB Unionbank would offer the lowest interest rates and annual fees on credits during this year’s edition of Stroiko 2000 exhibition schedule to take place at the National Palace of Culture (NDK) in Sofia between October 17 - 22, Dnevnik daily said on October 16.

The Bulgarian subsidiary of Hungary’s Magyar Kulkereskedelmi Bank (MKB) would participate in the exhibition with their own stand, offering mortgage and retail credits, as well as Visa credit cards under preferential terms, Dnevnik said.

This year’s Stroiko 2000 was to see MKB Unionbank mortgage loans with a promotional interest rate of 6.45 per cent, regardless of the client’s contribution to the property purchase, which is usually the defining parameter. The annual service fee was only 6.7 per cent. Furthermore, the loan management fee for the first year was to be cut by 50 per cent. Customers were to be given, as a bonus, a credit card with 5000 leva limit and free Internet banking.

For the time of their participation in Stroiko 2000, MKB Unionbank was to issue credit cards Visa Classic and Visa GOLD with preferential fee, that would enter into force at the end of the first year of use. The interest rate on Visa Gold was 9.99 per cent.

MKB Unionbank is majority owned by the German banking group Bayern LB. The European Investment Bank has a share of six per cent, and the remaining 34 per cent is in the hands of the bank’s founders, private persons.
