Agriculture and Food Supply Minister Nihat Kabil said he wants a public apology by February 6 from architect Georgi Yanev over his allegation that corruption at the agriculture ministry was "a nightmare".
Yanev was responsible for the tip-off which led to the arrest of two directors of the National Road Infrastructure Fund (NRIF) for corruption in January 24. He made his statement at a ceremony last week, when he received a ceremonial dagger from Interior Minister Roumen Petkov for his "valiant deed", mediapool.bg said.
Kabil had given Yanev until February 5 to produce evidence to support his claim of "nightmare corruption" at the ministry.
Since he had not received any evidence, Kabil said he now demanded a public apology from Yanev.
"If I don't get the apology, I will file a complaint for discrediting a state institution with the chief prosecutor," Kabil said.
