Former commander of the Bulgarian mission in Iraq Nasko Liutskanov was charged with malfeasance.
Plovdiv's military prosecution confirmed the charges on October 2, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported.
Liutskanov was arrested on September 28. He carried marked banknotes received from a soldier willing to take part in the Bulgarian mission in Afghanistan.
Military prosecution received signals about such violation on September 5. Investigators were trying to find other victims of the bribery scheme.
BTA reported that Liutskanov headed an infantry battalion in the Iraqi town of Kerbala. Liutskanov was recalled to Bulgaria because of his poor command of English and communication problems.
