Milan eyes Berbatov, agent denies interest
19:14 Wed 19 Mar 2008 - Petar Kostadinov

Reigning European champions AC Milan were courting Tottenham Hotspur’s Bulgarian striker Dimitur Berbatov, Corriere dello Sport said on March 18 2008. Berbatov's 20 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions this season has made him a target of Milan's selection this summer, the daily claimed.

Berbatov's agent Emil Danchev, however, denied the reports speaking to Bulgarian private broadcaster bTV on the same day, insisting that his client was happy at Spurs, but he did leave the door open to a possible summer move.

After Tottenham lost its March 12 Uefa Cup match against PSV Eindhoven in a penalty shoot-out, Berbatov was left with no chances of winning a European trophy this season.

Tottenham's chances for reaching the Champions League next season are inexistent, although the club is set for another Uefa Cup run, having won the Carling Cup last month.

According to  Corriere dello Sport, Berbatov would cost in the region of 25 million euro. He joined Tottenham in 2006 for 10.6 million pounds sterling and his club slapped a 35 million pounds fee on him during the winter transfer window in January, hoping to discourage suitors.
