Electoral campaigns for members of European Parliament (MEPs) in Bulgaria can cost up to two million leva.
Parliament accepted on second reading texts in the draft law for the selection of Bulgaria's MEPs, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported.
Companies having more than five per cent state or municipal shareholding are forbidden to provide funds for the campaigns.
Candidates in tenders for public procurement cannot provide funds as well. Religious institutions, gambling businesses, foreign organisations are also banned from providing funds for the campaigns.
Donations can reach up to 10 000 leva for natural persons and 30 000 leva for legal entities.
A month after the elections all candidates have to present expenditure accounts to the National Audit Office.
