The 11 members of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) have been chosen on September 28 2007.
Prosecutors, examining magistrates and judges which would take a seat in the SJC were selected earlier in September 2007.
The new SJC members were Anelia Mingova, Stoiko Kolev, Georgi Gatev, Elena Mitova, Ivan Dimov, Kostadinka Naoumova, Mariana Nikolova, Maya Kiprievska, Petar Stoyanov, Svetla Damova and Stefan Petrov, Focus news agency reported.
There has been criticism on the list of candidates by several of the parties in parliament.
Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria (DSB) and United Democratic Forces (UDF) proposed to have the candidates voted one-by-one instead of all at once. The proposal was rejected, after which DBS parliament members left Parliament before the vote out of protest.
Eliana Maseva, in Parliament for DSB, told journalists "today we have proof that instead of electing a Supreme Judicial Council which would lead the Judiciary, a supreme party council is being elected."
