MEDICS IN BULGARIA SHOULD BE PATIENT, SIGNIFICANT WAGE INCREASE POSSIBLE IN FEW YEARS- GAIDARSKI

Medics in Bulgaria should be patient, since significant wage increases would be possible in one or two years, Health Minister Radoslav Gaidarski told national private channel bTV.

He addressed the demands of Pirogov emergency institute medics, who want monthly salaries of 1400 leva and better working conditions.

A wage of 1400 leva for a doctor was deserved payment, Gaidarski said. In few years, they would be able to receive as much as 1500 euro.

Pirogov was a hospital that still had debts to pay, Gaidarski said. Significant improvements were impossible since the institute had staff of 2100 people and small number of patients. This disabled Pirogov from making profit.

Meanwhile Pirogov medics continued protesting on June 25. Nearly 50 medics gathered at the entrance to stage an hour-long demonstration.
