Sebastien Vettel of Germany spins out of control during a March 14 practice run for the Melbourne Grand Prix, held two days later. It was a sign of things to come as only seven cars out of 22 finished the 58-lap race. Lewis Hamilton won, five seconds ahead of BMW-Sauber’s Nick Heidfeld and eight seconds ahead of Williams’ Nico Rosberg. ‘I feel fantastic – what a dream start to the season and my championship challenge,’ Hamilton said after the race. Defending champion Kimi Raikkonen’s Ferrari ran out of fuel as he entered the pits with five laps to go. After the race, bassist Gene Simmons and the rest of Kiss were on stage to entertain the crowds. For those who missed the Melbourne event, Kiss will be in Sofia on May 16. For those more interested in Formula 1, the second race is in Malaysia on March 23.
