MANCHESTER UNITED OFFICIALLY REQUESTS TOTTENHAM FOR BULGARIA’S BERBATOV
17:45 Fri 24 Aug 2007

UK’s Manchester United made an official request for Tottenham’s Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov, the striker’s manager Emil said.

Still, Tottenham is the one to decide whether the Bulgarian will be transferred to United, Danchev told Focus news agency.

Negotiations with the Manchester club can begin only after Tottenham gives its agreement. Tottenham’s management will decide on Berbatov’s fate “in the following couple day or two,” he said.

According to the manager, United’s offer was “quite interesting,” but he refused to mention the sum United was ready to pay for the player.

Danchev also said that he lacked information regarding Spanish Real Madrid's interest in Berbatov.

"Man Utd deny interest in Berbatov" The Bulgarian international's agent said on Friday that the Premier League champions had sounded out Tottenham about a potential move. But chief executive David Gill issued a denial, saying: "We have categorically not made a bid for Dimitar Berbatov." Spurs added: "We have not received an offer and would not accept one if we did - it is as simple as that." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/t/tottenham_hotspur/6963150.stm This much about what Emil said and what the real situation is.
