Bulgaria’s national football team half Martin Petrov is to be transferred to UK team Manchester City, say media reports.
Media reports that the Manchester City had already contracted Petrov were “wide of the mark”, but the team appeared to be tracking him, Manchester Evening News said.
Petrov (28) had made 43 international appearances and scored five goals for Bulgaria, the newspaper said.
Focus news agency quoted recent media reports as saying that UK team Tottenham was also interested in Petrov. Another Bulgarian, Dimitar Berbatov, joined Tottenham in 2006 and soon became the star of the team.
Atletico Madrid bought Petrov for nearly 12 million euro in 2005. The current price of the football player would probably reach 11.5 to 13 million euro, the Manchester Evening News said.
