Bulgarian striker Valeri Bojivov may join Manchester City in the first days of August 2007.
The UK team, managed by former UK national team coach Sven Goran Eriksson, raised the offer for Bozjinov to 10 million euro, Italian La Nazione reported.
Bozjinov’s current team, Fiorentina, was currently considering the offer, hoping that Manchester City could raise it even further, goal.com said.
“With the English side currently on a shopping spree …for important players thanks to the money of Thaksin Shinawara, former Thailand's prime minister, Bojinov would be an excellent addition to improve the offensive department,” goal.com said.
Bozjinov attracted attention when he played for Italy’s Lecce, but his star darkened with Fiorentina and Juventus. Still, Eriksson believes in his qualities and has decided to recruit the striker.
