MAN DETAINED IN BULGARIA FOR ALLEGED THREATS AGAINST BUSHS SECURITY

Police in Bulgaria detained a man of Arab origin who allegedly threatened US president's George W. Bush security during his visit to Bulgaria on June 11.

According to police data, the person was connected to an Islamist group and underwent sniper education, Focus news agency reported.

Bulgarian police officials received two anonymous threats against the security of Bush and his Bulgarian counterpart Georgi Purvanov on June 10.

The first case involved a 33-year old man. Police officers detained two men aged 24 and 36 and a woman connected to the second signal.

Interior Minister Roumen Petkov said that he was thankful for the excellent co-ordination between police institutions during Bush's visit.
